Houston Alliance of Volunteers in Medicine, in collaboration with UP Manila Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, the local government of Ilocos Sur, Gov. Ryan Singson and the governor’s office along with local healthcare providers and leaders, conducted a successful mission to serve thousands of Filipinos in Ilocos Sur.
The three day surgical mission performed a total of 47 major and 46 minor surgeries. Major surgeries include Thyroidectomies (18), Inguinal hernia (8), Cholecystectomy (5) hemorroidectomies (4), mastectomy, hemangioma removal, fistulotomy, lipoma excision, cryptorchidism, excision of large occipital mass, circumcision, thryoglossbal cyst, pre auricular sinus and incision and drainage .
Concurrent Medical mission served thousands get vision screening, basic diabetes screening, and consultation for various health problems.
Through the dental mission, at least 1500 received free basic denta care.
Several organizations collaborated to make this mission a reality.
